We spoke with Jermaine Harris ahead of his keynote at Care Innovation Summit to explore the powerful story behind his session. Once caught in a spiral of debt, addiction and unhealthy habits, Jermaine made the decision to transform his life, and did so with extraordinary results. In this interview, he shares how he rebuilt his mindset, why personal development matters in the workplace, and what attendees can expect from his unmissable keynote session.
Why is it important to you to focus on the wellbeing of care professionals?
Jermaine: Care professionals are the unsung heroes of our communities. They dedicate themselves to supporting others, often at the expense of their own wellbeing. Having faced significant personal challenges myself, I understand the toll that neglecting self-care can take. My mission is to empower these individuals to prioritize their own health and happiness, ensuring they can continue to provide exceptional care without compromising their own lives.
What makes your keynote session different from a typical motivational talk?
Jermaine: My sessions go beyond mere motivation; I aim for them to be transformative experiences. I combine high-energy delivery with practical strategies rooted in psychology and personal development. Attendees don’t just feel inspired—they leave with actionable tools to implement real change in their lives and work. As one carer noted, “It wasn’t ‘positive thinking’ it was real strategies to help you take control of your life and mental health.
Without giving too much away, what can attendees expect to experience during your session?
Jermaine: Attendees can expect an engaging and interactive session that challenges their perspectives and ignites their passion. Through storytelling, practical exercises, and dynamic presentation, I aim to create an environment where care professionals feel rejuvenated and equipped to face their challenges with renewed vigor.
How do your methods help those working in care to build confidence and rediscover their energy?
Jermaine: I introduce techniques such as the “Four-Wheel Drive Goal Setting” method, which helps individuals clarify their objectives and reignite their purpose. By addressing both mindset and practical habits—like breathing techniques and daily routines—I guide care professionals to rebuild their confidence and energy from the ground up.
What message do you hope people will take away from your session?
Jermaine: The core message is: “Nothing is more important than your wellbeing.” By prioritizing self-care, care professionals can enhance their ability to serve others effectively. I want attendees to recognize their worth, embrace their potential, and leave with a renewed commitment to their personal growth.
If you feel inspired by Jermaine’s story, make sure to attend Care Innovation Summit and hear more from him in person. His keynote will open the event with energy, honesty, and practical tools to help care professionals prioritise their own wellbeing and rediscover their purpose.
